A Complete Overview of the Roulette Betting Table

When playing the game of roulette it is important to understand the betting table. Many beginning roulette players think that bets can only be made on single numbers. However, there are a wide variety of bets that can be placed in this exciting casino game.

When placing a bet in the game of roulette, players must place their chips on the roulette table. The roulette table lists all possible bets. All of the roulette numbers are listed in table form, with a chart made up of three columns with twelve numbers in each column. Chips are placed in the area of the table that is allotted for each type of bet.

There are two types of bets in roulette-inside bets and outside bets. Read on to learn more about each type of bet.

Inside Bets

Inside bets are known as “inside” bets because they are made by placing chips within the three by twelve chart of numbers on the table. Inside bets are as follows:

Straight bets – Straight bets are bets on a single number. To place a straight bet, place your chip on the table in the center of the number you want to wager on. The payout is 35:1.

Split bets – Split bets are bets on two numbers that are adjacent to each other on the roulette table. To place a split bet, place your chip on the line that divides the two numbers you want to bet on. If one of these numbers is spun then you will be paid 17:1.

Street bets – Street bets are bets on three numbers in a row, or “street.” To place a street bet, place your chip directly outside of the row of three that you want to bet on. If you win you will be paid 11:1.

Corner bets – Corner bets are bets on four numbers in a square on the chart. To place a corner bet, place your chips on the intersection between the four numbers you want to wager on. If you win you will be paid 8:1.

Five bets – A five bet is placed on 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3. To place this bet, place your chip on the line that divides the 0 and 1. Winning five bets pay 6:1.

Six Line bets – Six Line bets are placed on two adjacent rows of three (i.e. adjacent streets). To place a street bet, pace your chips on the outer line where the two rows, or streets, meet. Winning Six Line bets pay 6:1.

Outside Bets

Outside bets are known as “outside” bets because they are indicated on the roulette table outside of the main chart of numbers. Outside bets are as follows:

Even Money bets – Even money bets get their name because they pay even money, or 1:1. These bets include evens or odds, reds or blacks, and low numbers (1-18) or high numbers (19-36). Make an even money bet by placing your chips on the corresponding symbol on the roulette table.

Dozen bets – Dozen bets are bets on a group of 12 numbers. You can place a dozen bet on the groups 1-12, 13-24, or 25-36. You can place these bets by putting your chips on the corresponding symbol on the table. These are marked as 1st 12 (1-12), 2nd 12 (13-25) and 3rd 12 (25-36). The payout is 2:1.

0 and 00 bets – If you bet on 0 or 00 and win then the payout is 35:1.

Column bets – You can place a bet on one of the 12-number columns by putting your chips down on the 2:1 areas on the roulette table. The payout is 2:1.
