Game Focus - Craps

Craps is an exciting and multi faceted game, particularly so when playing online. For beginners, I would recommend the online option to "play for free/fun", before playing for real. But before you roll your sleeves up and take a shot, read the following basic guideline for playing craps at an online casino.

The first step in Online Craps is to register, login and, if playing for money, make your deposit. And, Let the games begin!

The first toss of the dice in the round is called the Come Out roll. If this roll comes out to a 7, or 11, the pass line bettors win, and the round ends then and there. The next step would be to roll again. If it comes out to a 2, 3, or 12, that's a craps, and the pass bettors lose. If however, it comes out to any other number besides 2, 3 and 12, that number becomes the Point. From here on the object of every roll is to try and hit that point. Based on the above, the purpose of the Come Out roll can be understood; that being, to set a point. Points must be one of 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10.

The number will blink or highlight on the table on screen to indicate its status as the Point.

Now that you understand the point (no pun intended) of the Come Out roll, it's important that you understand the technicalities of the different bets. To start off on sure footing be sure to read and understand the defining terms of the different bets.

Pass Bets

Beginners usually start with a "pass" line bet and then, as they become more confident, a "Don't pass" bet is a natural second step. The pass bet is placed on the pass line before the Come Out is rolled. When betting on the pass line you are betting with the shooter. To win with a pass bet, the come out roll must be a 7 or 11, or, win on any subsequent rolls that come out to the point. After the point is set, any roll landing on 7, is called an Out 7, and "pass" bettors will lose on out sevens. Therefore, if the shooter tosses Out 7 with the roll of the dice then they lose and the round is over. If the toss is neither the Point nor Out 7, the round continues and the dice keep rolling until one or the other comes out and bets are continually made in the process.

Don't Pass Bets

The don't pass bet is just the opposite of a pass bet, in that you are betting against the shooter on the odds that the shooter won't be able to make the numbers on the dice that he or she wants. Therefore: Seven on the Come Out roll, means you lose, the shooter, and the pass bettors win 2, 3, or 12 the shooter loses, and you win. Any other numbers, are the point.

Object of the Game
The basic objective in the wild game of Craps is for the shooter to win by tossing the Point again before he tosses a seven. The bettors and spectators add excitement to the game because the objective of the game for them is precisely the opposite of that of the shooter.
