The game of blackjack is one of the most popular casino games, both on the Web and in live casinos around the globe. However, many gamblers are unaware that there are a number of popular variations on blackjack rules.
While the general rules of all blackjack variations are similar-players compete against a dealer in an attempt to beat the dealer’s hand without breaking 21-there are slight differences that make each variation unique. The most popular blackjack variations include Double Exposure Blackjack, Double Attack Blackjack, Blackjack Switch, Spanish 21, and Super Fun 21. Read on to learn the basic rules of these popular blackjack variations.
Double Exposure Blackjack
In the Double Exposure variation of blackjack both of the dealer’s cards are exposed. This is what gives this variation its name.
Double Attack Blackjack
Double Attack Blackjack is another blackjack variation. In this game all of the 10s are removed from the deck, creating 48-card decks instead of the usual 52. This is known as a Spanish Deck. Double Attack is played by basically the same rules as traditional blackjack. However, there is an exciting side bet which opens the door for huge winnings.
The side bet in Double Attack Blackjack can be placed as a wager that the dealer will go bust in three cards. If the dealer busts with three cards then players are paid out according to what the third card is. If the third card is a 10 the player is paid 3:1; if the third card is a 9 the player is paid 6:1; if the third card is an 8 the player is paid 8:1; if the third card is a 7 the player is paid 10:1; and if the third card is a 6 then the player is paid 15:1. However, if the third card is an 8 and one of the other two cards is also an 8 of the same color they player earns a payout of 50:1 and if there are two 8s of the same suit the player earns a whopping 200:1!
Spanish 21
Spanish 21 is also played with a Spanish 48-card deck. This game is played by similar rules to traditional blackjack. However, there are additional payouts in Spanish 21 as well, similar to Double Attack Blackjack.
In Spanish 21 a player earns a payout of 3:2 when they obtain a 5-card 21 hand. A 6-card 21 pays 2:1, and a 21 made up of 7 or more cards pays 3:1.
Blackjack Switch
In the Blackjack Switch variation of the game each player can play two separate hands at once. After the hands have been dealt the players reserve the right to switch the top cards of the hands if it helps them improve their hands. Players must place equal bets on both of the hands they are playing.
Super Fun 21
Super Fun 21 is another blackjack variation that incorporates a number of exciting payout opportunities. In this game players instantly win when they have a hand made up of 6 or more cards that is equal to 20 or less, no matter what the dealer’s hand is. Additionally, players instantly win double their money with a 21-point hand made up of 5 or more cards. Players can split up to 4 times, the dealer always hits on soft 17 and players with blackjack always win, regardless of whether the dealer has blackjack or not. These player-friendly rules make this blackjack variation fun and profitable.
These are just a few of the most popular blackjack variations. You can switch it up to give yourself a change of pace or try them all out to decide which blackjack variation is your favorite.
